Tiles & Stone: Glides for Hard Floors

Tiles and stone are almost indestructible – yet glides are worthwhile: against the noise of chairs scraping, for effortless moving of heavy furniture, and to protect delicate natural stones.

Tiled floor, furniture on PTFE glides

The Noise Problem: Felt

Chairs scraping on tiles is one of the loudest everyday noises in the house – the hard floor reflects every contact. Felt glides decouple furniture and floor: sliding becomes almost silent, even for the neighbours below.

The Force Problem: PTFE

On rough porcelain stoneware, heavy furniture can barely be moved – the friction is enormous. PTFE glides have an extremely low coefficient of friction and allow even sofas and cupboards to glide effortlessly, without stressing the floor.

Special Case: Natural Stone and Marble

Polished marble and natural stone appear hard, but are susceptible to scratches – and a scratch in stone can only be repaired with professional effort. The same care applies here as with parquet: soft felt glides, regularly checked.
