Furniture slides on smooth floors – how everything stays in place
The opposite of the sliding problem: sofas and armchairs move across smooth floors with every use. Anti-slip pads stop the movement. Note: Do not use anti-slip pads made of rubber/soft PVC permanently on vinyl/PVC floors – risk of discolouration.
Why furniture moves
On smooth floors, friction is lacking: every time you sit on the sofa or lean against the armchair, the furniture moves a little further. Harder glides even amplify this effect – here, the opposite is needed.
Anti-slip instead of gliding
Anti-slip pads increase the static friction between the leg and the floor. The furniture stands firmly, the floor remains protected – the soft pad simultaneously prevents scratches and pressure marks.
- Place pads under all contact points, not just under two legs.
- Clean the surface before attaching – dust reduces adhesion.
- For furniture that is alternately stationary and moved, it is better to choose felt and consciously correct its position.
Stays where it should: Anti-slip pads in various sizes and cuts.
