Vinyl/Design flooring: what to look out for with glides?
Vinyl and design floors are elastic, warm underfoot – and more sensitive than their surface suggests. Two risks must be avoided: pressure marks and discolouration.
Risk 1: Pressure marks
Elastic coverings yield under point loads. Narrow furniture legs visibly indent over time – especially under beds, wardrobes, and sofas that are never moved. The solution is simple: increase the contact surface. Large felt glides distribute the load instead of concentrating it.
Risk 2: Discolouration due to material contact
Permanent contact between certain plastics and vinyl surfaces can lead to interactions and discolouration. With felt, you are on the safe side – it is material-neutral and significantly reduces marks in the decor.
Equip all furniture immediately upon moving in: pressure marks develop gradually and are almost impossible to reverse in elastic coverings.
