Making squeaky & noisy chairs quieter
The scraping and thudding when moving chairs is annoying – in the flat above as much as at your own dining table. The source of the noise is almost always at the chair leg, and that's where it can be stopped.
Where the noise comes from
Hard material combinations transmit every movement as structure-borne sound into the floor – and the floor carries it throughout the entire house. It gets particularly loud on tiles and laminate, where plastic or metal feet rub directly on the hard surface.
The solution: decoupling with felt
Felt is a particularly quiet gliding material: its fibre structure dampens contact instead of transmitting it. Even simple self-adhesive felt pads drastically reduce sliding noise; wool felt is even denser and quieter – the premium choice for peace and quiet.
